Early man began to notice that aromatic smoke was produced by burning dried plants like herbs, roots, barks, and resins. By burning these plants you were changing their physical form. (of this world) They are changed by the Element of Fire into smoke (Spirit World Form)

Sweetgrass/ Also known as Vanilla Grass ~ This very special herb has a sweet Vanilla like scent that brings the blessing of Mother Earth's love. 

Sweetgrass is burned to remind us of the essence of the feminine and that the Earth provides us with everything we need (also may be used to call Spirit) 

Our Sweetgrass is sustainably grown on a farm in the Northwest USA. It is handpicked with prayer and braided in a good way with help from the Elder Grandmother of their tribe. We are proud to carry their sweetgrass.

Sweetgrass can also be un-braided and trimmed with scissors and sprinkled on a hot charcoal disk. 

There are two types of Smudging:

1) Smudging with a smudge bowl or shell with appropriate herbs directly lit or burned on a charcoal disk (loose herbs)

2) Smudging is also done with herbs that are tied together in bundles called Smudge Sticks.~~~~In either case the smoke is washed over the body (person) or object with a feather or by fanning the smoke with your hand
