When the Rain Stopped
Finally, a chance to work in the yard. At our new place the house is smaller, but the yard is huge and has nothing but a sprinkler system, grass and trees with a few Rhododendrons. So I'm working with a blank canvas.
This yard is so different from our last yard. In our last location I dictated where everything was going to be planted. Whereas, this yard is going to be a complete challenge because nature us dictating everything. I will be interested to see where it takes me. Our new place is very Woodland Witch, which I love. Here we have the lovely song of the crickets and the harmony of the frogs in the pond; in the woods next to us. We still live about 3 blocks from the water (Chamber's Bay) with beautiful trails leading us down to it. We have yet to have time to explore, but we will be definitely checking it out once we get settled in.
So let me get back to the topic at hand. For those of you who follow us on Facebook and Instagram, you may remember the portal we made out of our trimmed trees. For those of you who did not get a chance to see it, here is a pic of it at our old house.
And yes, as crazy as it seemed at the time, we did decide to take it to our new place. It took four of us to move it and it took up the whole U-Haul, but it did make it here in one piece. So in honor of Wicked House I put it in our first flower bed. In this bed there is a huge tree trunk that in the near future will become our outside garden altar. So I placed our portal in front of that tree trunk, made a bird bath out of a cauldron and added some plants around to enclose the portal. It's a work in progress, but I think it will be very pretty in the months to come.
