Moon Goddess
Today, I'm going to share with you our own version of our Moon Goddess. The Goddess I'm going to use has been many things here at Wicked House. Originally, she was one of our fountains. This year she is going to be our Moon Goddess for our backyard gatherings that I will be putting up in the next few days to share. We are just finishing up our seating area around our pit. Then I will put up some pics of what has transpired over the last month. So, let's get back to the Moon Goddess.
My first task was to find a globe that was the right size and not overly expensive. When I first start creating an idea, I'm never too sure of the outcome, so I don't like to invest to much out of pocket. What looks great in my head does not always transform well in real life. I do have a pretty good track record, but I'm not going to lie, there has been many ideas that went straight to the crapper and never to be thought of again. Don't let your failures detour you too much! Most of the time they just need to be executed differently. Don't be afraid to keep working on it. Sometimes the ugly can turn into something really special; and if not, well, at least you worked the crap out of it before you drop kicked it out of the door. Another day, another project...I always say.
Ok, so I looked up online at Home Depot for those glass light globes that were very popular in the 70s. They were about $48.00 plus for the size I wanted. I was looking for an 18" inch in diameter and not too spendy. Then I started checking out garden gazing balls; not what I was seeing in my head. I decided t check out thrift stores for the glass globes. All too small, but in our travels we came across this plastic pool ball and the price was perfect, $2.99.
We took it home and cut the bottom of it off and I got my black and white paints. I got busy painting and as I was painting, pics were flowing in my head and showing me our Moon Goddess holding a pink , blue, orange, and red moon. I was really jacked about it!
I took one of our Salt lamp light cords and went and bought a pink, blue and red light bulb for our Goddess. I had trouble finding a orange one so I painted one with orange nail polish. So now our Moon Goddess is ready for all of our Moons: Pink Moon, Blue Moon, Harvest Moon and Red for Blood on the Moon. Here's some pics of our finished project.
